My father taught me how to drive back when I was about eight years old. Started out by driving his ’65 Buick Wildcat. Loved that car.
Once I was able to navigate it, my father put me behind the wheel of his KW. Fond memories of those days.
My first personal car was a ’72 Ford Gran Torino 2 door coupe. I got it from 3M. It had been part of their Sales Fleet. 3M would switch out cars when they hit 45,000 miles. Paid $300 for it myself when I was 15.
I took it home and made it mine. I put on Cragar wheels. 70s on the front and super wide 60s on the rear. Added air shocks to the rear and modified the exhaust. She was a medium blue and the 351 Windsor purred like a kitten. It was an automatic so I put the linkage on the floor. Loved to hear the rumble when I shifted down and to hear the growl when I stepped on it.
Was once challenged by a fellow female student to a race. She was driving a Mustang Mach 1. She was a snooty one and I took great pleasure when I smoked her ass. Good times. Good times.
Kept the car about 3 years. Sad day came when there was smoke coming out the exhaust so I sold it. Unfortunately I no longer have pics of the car.
